Anything I got good at, I didn't start once I knew what I was doing. Whenever I'm in the pursuit of what makes me happy, I find myself lacking time to criticize others or trash talk others. That won't get me anywhere because that has nothing to do with putting in the work. In fact, unto my experience, when I'm putting in work for what makes me happy, I feel more inclined to encourage others and say something positive because I'm doing what makes me happy. Before I became my own worst critic (I'm working on this, by the way,), my own worst critics were my elders and parents. Because of how I grew up around, "You shouldn't do that because X" that's where my own perfectionism came from. At some point, I just stopped sharing what makes me happy with my parents or elders and most other people, too. Like, you're not working? You're lazy. You're working? Work harder. Through their misguided way of raising me, I learned that people are always going to have something to nitpick about you, no matter what. I learned that if it also comes from people close to you that are putting you down, if you're able to without incurring any negative consequences unto yourself, leave them. Cut ties with them. It's hard but you'll feel better in the long run. Surround yourself with people who have your best interests at heart but also be truthful (not hurtful) about when your ideas will cause you pain, but will also tell you when you're doing good. We all need a healthy amount of praise in order to keep going when the times get hard. Don't let the compliments people give you inflate your ego, but use it to fuel a never-ending hunger to keep exploring and build upon what you're doing. StarCraft was a game that took me over a decade to get good at. Everything takes time. The saying used to go that you shouldn't believe everything you see on TV. Well today, it should be that you shouldn't believe everything you see on social media. Life is not a highlight reel, it's a journey and an adventure. And that should be embraced. Set your own personal goals and reinforce yourself with the mentality that you can. Because once you say that you can't, you just eliminated the possibility to succeed from yourself. I always try to be my True authentic self. I never really tried to “Grow up” in a sense, I’m 24 and I still enjoy the things that I loved when I was younger. Cartoons, animated movies, video games, comics, toys, the list goes on. I’m still working on myself, to become the best version of myself. Sometimes I’m a little hard on myself (mostly because of anxiety and self doubt, I’ve been dealing with it more since the start of last year), but i know that…my circumstances in life are unique. I was born prematurely, with neurodivergence (autism, epilepsy, and dyslexia), I was a late bloomer. I sometimes beat myself up for being behind everyone, for not being in my prime. And you know what? That’s ok. Like you said “No one is perfect” and that’s ok. The idea of someone being in their “Prime” is ridiculous, because life is a constant journey of self improvement. I kinda know what i want in life, but i need to finish this “Reset” period in my life. Hopefully it won’t take long, because i have goals I wanna achieve. I like how you used sonic for this, Sonic is perfect for this sort of thing. Live and learn!

Yo first off I also love and believe Sonic Unleashed is the best 3D Sonic game to this day. Second off, I’m 24 and still struggling with that as well too. I definitely needed to hear this. Thank you for being your authentic self so others can be. Much love and respect bro. Keep going.

HOLY FUCK this video… I can’t say how much this means a lot but as an 18 year old, I just knew that sonic will always be in my heart. I have so many friends that they don’t like sonic but they are ok with me liking him as long I don’t be excessive about him. I posted the sonic symphony concert and people liked the post. That’s how you know you have good friends. As long you are chill with your choice, you will always be cool 😎. BTW I like how you never show any werehog gameplay (that says a lot 😂) Best video I love it

I try to be myself, just chill out and do whatever. But i still live with my mom (as of May 2024) and she calls me out for my lazy unhealthy bullcrap. TREADMILL FOR HOURS, STOP EATING CANDY, CHANGE YOUR CLOTHES, STOP MAKING THE DOGS PUKE, LISTEN TO ME AND STOP FREAKING OUT OVER MY VOICE! And then i start over thinking about how dumb and useless i feel. And thats when the depression kicks in.

This was such a genuine video. For the longest time, I've had the worst self esteem. I felt like I had little reason to think about myself positively. Whether it's because of me being the oddball, enjoying things that many people don't, or making dumb mistakes or just doing things that I regret in general, in that sense I also became a people pleaser seeing as I became afraid to piss people off. Recently, though, I've learned to start being nicer to myself and just try to move forward in doing the best I can for myself and everyone else around me. I've learned that it's fine to stick to your own views, mindsets, and preferences as long as it's healthy and not legitimately problematic. And I'm not a person that likes to give up. And I'm not going to let anything stop me from just enjoying life with my friends and loved ones. So in short, I do relate to a lot of things said here and I genuinely wish the best for you and anyone else that may be struggling with this issue, because we have this one opportunity to enjoy so many things, to embrace any passions we may have and live the best life we can throughout all the crazy stuff that happens.

The way Sonic completely shifted my worldview and perspective is crazy. I know Sonic is meant to represent freedom and isn't exactly someone we should be able to relate to, but he inspires personal growth in others more than people outside of the fandom give him credit for.
